An under-counter wine cooler is a popular method to store, display and keep bottles of wine trendy inside the kitchen. A wine cooler can keep wines in the best temperature for storage, that usually is between 46 and 56 degrees Fahrenheit for white chips and 58 to 68 degrees for red chips. Oftentimes, a homeowner may wish to replace a trash compactor with a wine cooler at the kitchen, which is completed in about one hour working with some simple hand tools.
Loosen the screws holding the kick plate on the bottom front of the garbage compactor and remove the kick plate. Then slide out the compactor drawer and then lift it from the compactor cabinet.
Slide the end of a flat pry bar between the system of the compactor and the edge of the cabinet to loosen the compactor, then slide the unit from the cabinet. Unplug the compactor’s power cord from the electrical outlet and set the compactor aside.
Gauge the height of the wine cooler, and also add 1/8 inch to this measurement. Mount the anti-tip bracket into the back wall of the cabinet enclosure in this height up from the ground with a power drill using the included mounting screws. When the screws will be molded to drywall, drill a pilot hole into the drywall using a 1/8-inch drill bit, then tap a drywall anchor into every pilot hole with a hammer to fasten the mounting screws.
Place the wine cooler unit facing the cabinet opening, then connect the power cord into the socket inside the cabinet opening. Slide the wine cooler into position so that the surface of the unit is flush with the front of the cabinet and the top back edge is just beneath the anti-tip bracket. Push gently on the unit that is cooler and also open and shut the door, checking for any wobble or tilt of the cooler. Raise or lower the feet on the bottom of the cooler with an adjustable wrench to get rid of the wobble.
