Shower niches are more complex than they seem. Every decision for sizing, shelving and materials makes a difference in fashion and function. Is glass Caesarstone greatest? How many shelves are needed, and how should they be placed? This ideabook can assist you in making the right decisions.

True to the golden ratio, dividing shelves to thirds tends to seem best. When it comes to markets, I am a firm believer in following this rule.
Hint: Most glass looks slightly green. If you’d like a thinner glass, select a low-iron version, like starphire glass.

This shelf makes use of three stone shelves instead of glass.
So, which is better? I enjoy the look of glass. However, if a shower niche is becoming soaked and taking on soap every day, a stone surface will look cleaner longer.
Hint: Make sure the base of the niche and any shelves are tilted toward the shower so that they drain. Shower markets are super useful, but if they maintain water after every shower, they won’t seem great for long.

A niche installation frequently is dependent upon the tile selection and how the borders of those tiles seem. Many times we miter the edges of the tile to eliminate the plain edge that many tiles possess.
Here’s a good instance of mitered tile corners. The top shower niche was built larger and then split with a luminous plate of starfire glass.
Hint: Starphire glass scratches easier than normal glass. Take extra care working and cleaning with this particular glass.

I think odds tend to look better than evens in showers — groups of three, not just two.
The grade of the niche is superb. Notice the shower niche has 11 glass tiles on the trunk. The glass plate sits to the seventh tile down in the top — almost two-thirds of the way down. Sometimes this doesn’t work out once you buy onsite, but here the scale is superb.
Hint: Make sure you measure your favourite shower products. A well designed shower niche is very good, but if your shampoo bottle of selection does not match, it won’t be of any aid.

If you sit on a seat, you probably wish to access to your stuff. Keep things in reach and plan the niche placement to function for you and your children.
Hint: If you have children, assume they’ll attempt to climb anything that looks like a ladder, so keep your shelving protected. Installing the glass or stone first in the niche and then setting the tile around it is much safer than siliconing a glass shelf into a completed tiled niche.

What a feature! This corner seat is the focal element in the shower. When planning your primary design points, a shower niche shouldn’t compete with your space’s layout. Using glass in this niche makes for a neater appearance.
Hint: Glass is generally cheap. But be sure you purchase your niche shelving along with other glass items to get the maximum bang for your dollar. If you’re using three shelves in a niche, ask your builder to purchase four. It’s always nice to have a backup if something breaks.

This is a superb use of space. Many of the small things can fit in a niche that is small. The very low glass shelf doubles the footprint and creates extra room for lotions and potions.
Hint: Make sure the glass is tempered so it’s safe in case of an crash.

I really like the contrast of the shower niche. This hardworking spot is very good for a squeegee. The wall (often called a pony wall) hides the niche from the different parts of the restroom. Some homeowners don’t like to have their shower products. Hiding your niche down like this may be a fantastic alternative.
Hint: When the niche ends up on screen, then make it a gem!

The large glowing niche in my kid’s bathroom has a one-third split. The smaller top niche won’t accumulate water — it’s a wonderful spot for a bar of soap.
Hint: When working with slabs for markets, you’ll have to define to the stone provider that the bits be double polished, meaning both the top and underside get polished.
