Caulking around the foundation of a toilet is neither a fun nor easy task, but it’s a significant one. Pee and water can flow under the foundation of a toilet and lead to the rise and spread of bacteria, bacteria and other pathogens. Caulking around the foundation of a toilet bowl will also help prevent leaks by reducing toilet movement, decreasing the risk of harm to the toilet flange and wax seal.
Utilize Mold-Resistant Caulk
Use a caulking gun or a tubing to apply caulk around the toilet base. Be sure to use mold-resistant caulk. Run a moderate bead of caulk in the gap between the toilet bowl and ground. Run your finger over the caulk to smooth it, wiping excess on a paper or cloth towel. When it’s smooth and even, wipe any extra caulk in the ground and toilet bowl with a moist cloth. Allow the caulk to dry for 24 hours.
